THE ROLE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE PARISH COUNCIL

The role and objective of the Parish Council is the control and administration of parish matters through the elected members of the Council on behalf of the parishioners through close liaison with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.

The Parish Council is invited by Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council to inspect and comment on all planning applications for the Parish of Ightham, and is very mindful of the necessity to preserve the unique and picturesque aspects of the village and its environs.

The responsibilities of the Councillors also extends to looking after such things as footpaths, which are walked on a regular basis, playground maintenance, and building relationships with village organizations, such as the Scout Group, Football Club etc, WRVS Luncheon Club etc.

Parish Council Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month in the Ightham Village Hall, whilst the agenda and minutes of such meetings are posted on the parish notice boards. All members of the public are cordially invited to attend these meetings.

Parish Council funds are sourced primarily from an annual Council Tax precept via Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.
